Welcome, you’ve discovered the hidden contents page of Weston Photography. Here you will discover original negatives and prints from several shoots I did during my second year of my photographic degree course at Blackpool School of Photography back in 1985.
The images were inspire by the books of Bob Carlos Clarke, Helmut Newton and Robert Mapplethorpe that I discovered in the college library (now the gallery space). The models were friends and were photographed using Mamiya or Bronica medium format cameras. The film was always Ilford FP4 120 and the negative were printed onto Iford Multigrade paper that was then selenium toned. This gave a blue shift in the paper’s base colour and increased the depth of the blacks.
